Betty Light

Betty W. Light, 86, Gray, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.Betty was a Washington County native and lifelong resident of Gray. She was a daughter of the late George R. and Lula Harwood Wine.Betty was a bookkeeper with SunTrust Bank, retiring after 29 years of service. She was a faithful and loving member of Boones Creek Christian Church where she enjoyed quilting every Tuesday morning with the “Quilting Ladies”.  Betty was an avid baseball fan.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband Roy Lee Light in 2006; 3 brothers John I. Wine, Samuel H. Wine, her twin Billy Joe Wine and a niece Gladys Deremer.Betty is survived by her sister Evelyn Wine Bowman, Bowmantown; nieces and nephews, Phyllis Potter and husband Ron, David Wine and wife Kathi, George Wine and wife Karen, Martha Love and husband Jimmy, Dan Deremer, Barbara Jones and husband Jody, Bruce Wine and wife Janice, Steven Wine and wife Cindy, Vicki Jackson and husband Mickey, Benji Bowman and wife Teresa, Jerry Fleenor and wife Anita, Jackie Fleenor and wife Roseann, Mike Fleenor and wife Jeannie; several great and great-great nieces and nephews, a very special cousin Johnnie Lyons and her loving dog Tanner.The funeral service for Betty will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Boones Creek Christian Church with David Clark, Minister and Charles Reese, Minister officiating.The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the church, and other times at the home of Mike and Jeannie Fleenor.The graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 1:00 P.M. in Washington County Memory Gardens. Active Pallbearers include Jerry Fleenor, Jackie Fleenor, Chad Fleenor, David Wine, Steven Wine and Drew Wine. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 P.M.
