OBITARY- Aaron Hammons Aaron Hammons, 93, Johnson City, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Harlan, KY and was a son of the late James and Maggie Dunn Hammons. Aaron was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII. He retired from Fleming Foods in 1987 where he worked as a truck driver. Aaron was a member of Clifton View Baptist Church. He loved Kentucky basketball and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margaret G. Middleton Hammons; four brothers and one sister. Survivors include five children; Donna Gaddy (Troy) of Johnson City, J.T. Hammons (Brenda) of Piney Flats, Darrell Hammons of Covington, KY, Sandy Tucker (James)and Junior Hammons (Shelby), both of Johnson City; nine grandchildren; Michael Hammons (Theresa) of Jonesborough, Chrystal May (Tom) of Jacksonville, FL, Jamie Hammons (Sunday) of Gray, Kelly Hammons of Bristol, VA, Felicia Saults (Derrick), Tonya Hammons (Johnny), James Tucker Jr. (Shannon), Josh Tucker (Marah) and Shane Terrell (Mindy), all of Johnson City; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to send a special thanks to the VA primary care dept., 5TH floor nurses at JCMC, and to Choices. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January, 25, 2018, at 7PM in the West Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Babb officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-7PM. The graveside committal service will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1PM in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Hammons, Mason Tucker, Austin Stout, Dakota Tucker, Nicholas Hammons and Johnny Stout. Honorary pallbearer will be Josh Tucker.
