Robert Paul Peterson

April 23, 1966 ~ September 26, 2018 (age 52)

Robert P. Peterson, 52, Johnson City, died peacefully, surrounded by his wife and “girls”, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at his residence, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

 Robert was an Erwin native and lived most of his adult life in Jonesborough before moving to Johnson City three years ago.

 He was a son of Robert “Kermit” and Patricia Barnett Peterson, both of Erwin.

 Robert was a 1984 graduate of Unicoi County High School.

 He was a retired Conductor from CSX Transportation.  

 Robert was formerly employed with Valley Equipment, was a builder and a certified welder.

 He was an antique car enthusiast, enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, and loved spending time at the beach, and most of all, with his family.

 Robert was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sarah Peterson, his paternal grandparents, Bill and Vella Peterson, his maternal grandparents, Earl and Pauline Barnett.

 Those left to cherish his memories in addition to his parents, include his wife, Angela C. Hill, of the home; two daughters, Paige Peterson and Kayla Peterson, both of Jonesborough; two step-children, Brett Hill and Amber Hill, both of the home; his very special grandchildren, Dawson Beverly, Braylon and Laiken Milhorn;  four brothers, Mark Peterson and wife Rachel, Jonesborough, Craig Peterson and wife Sherrie, Matt Peterson and wife Julia, and Tim Peterson, all of Erwin; father & mother-in-law, John and Jane Crawford, Gray; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice, especially Carmen, for their wonderful support and care through a very difficult time.

  It was Robert’s wish to be cremated, and his life will be celebrated with a memorial service Sunday, September 30, 2018, at 4:00 P.M., at Erwin Pentacostal Holiness Church.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the church.

 The family requests that in-lieu-of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Robert’s name to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Rd., Knoxville, TN 37909.
