Norma K. Clark

July 6, 1935 ~ October 19, 2018 (age 83)

Norma K. Clark passed away quietly in her sleep on Oct. 19, in Johnson City.

Norma was born Norma Pauline Kuhlmann to Minnie and Gustau Kuhlmann of Middleburgh, NY in 1935.  She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in the states of New York, Florida, and Tennessee.  While working at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, she met Robert L. Clark, then chief resident in ophthalmology.  The two were married May 9, 1970 and relocated first to Miami, Florida and then to Johnson City.

Throughout her life, Norma showed a tireless love and concern for those around her and a passion for learning and self-improvement.  Her love extended beyond her immediate family to many nephews and nieces, friends and neighbors, volunteer work for local schools, and even to those caring for her in her last years.  Norma enjoyed travel, was an accomplished knitter with a passion for needle crafts of all kinds, and was an even more accomplished cook.  She was a voracious reader throughout her life and always sought out new ways to learn and see the world.  As her friends and family all know, Norma was also tireless in every task she tackled but could handle challenges and setbacks with the grace of her warm and patient smile.

Norma is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert L. Clark, her sister Ruth K. Piccirilli of Pittsford, NY, her sons Jeffery L. Clark of Castaic, CA and Daniel S. Clark of Pleasanton, CA and two grandsons Andrew and Alexander.  They and the many others Norma touched with her love will miss her dearly.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 2:00 P.M., in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
