Judy A. Jeffers, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a prolonged illness.
Judy was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late John Perry Murray and Arlene White Carmichael Murray Adams.
Judy retired from the Johnson City Medical Center in 2009 after forty years of service. Following retirement, she continued working as a volunteer until her death.
Judy was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for many years, where she taught Sunday School for the Children’s Ministry. She had most recently been attending Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.
Judy was very kind and loving. Although quiet and soft spoken, she let it be known her love of Christ and for others. Judy never said “goodbye”, instead gladly giving you a hug and saying “I love you”!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Jay Adams, sister, Carol Carlton, and nephew, Rodney Carlton.
Judy is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Gayle Jeffers; nephew, Randy Carlton; sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Garber, Jeannie Jeffers, Evelyn Jeffers, Diane Wilcox, Betty Powers, Barbara Bennett and Frances Bennett; cousins; and special friend, Linda Morrison.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 3:00 P.M., in Monte Vista Memorial Park, with Rev. Charlie A. Biggs and Dr. Kenneth Grindstaff, officiating. Pallbearers will be David Queen, Cheyene Tuten, Randy Norwood, and Ronald Pierce.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:30 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.
In-lieu-of flowers family request donations be made to the funeral home to assist with Judy’s final expenses.
