John Thomas Stevens

May 6, 1979 ~ July 28, 2018 (age 39)


John Thomas “JoJo” Stevens, age 39, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be with his brother and the Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2018 unexpectedly at his job in Johnson City.   Born in Elizabethton, he was a son of David Stevens and Betty Richardson, both of Johnson City.  Mr. Stevens was a graduate of Science Hill High School and has worked at Wal-Mart for 10 years.  He was a Nascar fan and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.  John loved Duke University sports.  He was a loving and caring person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Stevens is preceded in death by his brother, David Adam Stevens; niece, Autumn Hunter Curtis; maternal grandmother, Sylvia Richardson; paternal grandparents, Sarah and Roy Stevens.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Richardson, Johnson City; father, David Stevens and wife Teresa, Johnson City; maternal grandfather, Johnny Richardson, Johnson City; Two sisters, Sylvia Stevens, Hampton, and Hope Curtis and husband Teddy, Watauga; niece, Haley Davis, Hampton.   John had some very close friends that were just like family to him, these friends are, Timothy Strickland, Johnson City; and  Brandy Boggs and Abigail Boggs, Bluff City.  Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

The memorial service for Mr. Stevens will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Westerly Heights Baptist Church, 628 N. Center Street, Johnson City, with Rev. Butch Stout officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home.

Private disposition will be held at a later date at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
